I moved, but I don't know where I am!

I know I moved, but I don't know where I am!

If your network involves multiple domains, you've probably at some time had to move users to new domains. Perhaps, following such a move, a user was unable to log on to the system because the new domain wasn't included in the Domain drop-down list. You can fix this problem, but it requires a registry tweak, so take the usual precautions and make sure you have a verified backup before you begin:

  1. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon.
  2. Select the Dcache value name in the right-hand pane and press Delete.
  3. Select the DcacheUpdate value name and delete it.
  4. Shut down and restart the workstation to rebuild the domain list.
