Creating a queue to device

If you have a printer that has its own network card and IP address, you can create a queue to the device by following these steps:

  1. Log on as a member of the Administrators Group.
  2. Start Control Panel (Start | Settings| Control Panel).
  3. Choose the Network icon and select the Services tab.
  4. Click Add and select Microsoft TCP/IP printing.
  5. Click OK and then click Close.
  6. Click Yes when prompted to reboot.
  7. After the machine has booted up, go to My Computer | Printers and select Add Printer.
  8. Select Printer Is A Local Printer and continue.
  9. Click Add Port and select LPR Port.
  10. Click New Port and fill in the IP address and name of the printer in their respective fields.
  11. Click OK and ignore the error about not being able to communicate.
  12. Click Next and then select the printer driver.
  13. Click Next and indicate whether you want to share the printer and then click Finish.

That's it—your printer is now ready!
