Creating a queue to device
If you have a printer that has its own network card and IP address, you can create a queue to the device by following these steps:
- Log on as a member of the Administrators Group.
- Start Control Panel (Start | Settings| Control Panel).
- Choose the Network icon and select the Services tab.
- Click Add and select Microsoft TCP/IP printing.
- Click OK and then click Close.
- Click Yes when prompted to reboot.
- After the machine has booted up, go to My Computer | Printers and select Add Printer.
- Select Printer Is A Local Printer and continue.
- Click Add Port and select LPR Port.
- Click New Port and fill in the IP address and name of the printer in their respective fields.
- Click OK and ignore the error about not being able to communicate.
- Click Next and then select the printer driver.
- Click Next and indicate whether you want to share the printer and then click Finish.
That's it—your printer is now ready!
