Tech Tips / Windows 2000 Server / Terminal Services

Terminal Services/MetaFrame document saver

A frantic user runs into your office screaming about a workstation that just went kaput during a Terminal Services client or ICA session. Lean back, smile, and assure your harried user that everything will be just fine. Have the user restart the workstation and then restart the exact same session that was running when the failure occurred. This means using the same username, password, and application profile. The previously thought lost application of that login session will be restored at exactly the same place it was when the crash occurred. Why? Because it's running on the server as opposed to a workstation, of course.
