Tech Tips / Windows 2000 Professional / Installation and Configuration
If you've performed several installations of Windows 2000 that required configuration of regional settings that differed from the defaults, such as locale, number format, currency format, time and date format, and so on, you might have noticed that in some installations you can specify those settings during Setup and in others, you can't.
When started through Winnt.exe, Setup doesn't offer the option of configuring regional settings. However, the 32-bit version, Winnt32.exe, does offer you this. So, you have two ways around the problem: You can either use Winnt32.exe to install Windows 2000, or configure those settings after installation is complete. You'll have to use the latter option when installing Windows 2000 on systems that can't run Winnt32, such as systems with no previous operating system.
An alternative to either of these methods if you're installing Windows 2000 on several computers is to perform an unattended installation that incorporates the desired settings.
